3321 Blog Entry #1 VALUES

Chapter 1 notes basically discuss the importance of values, literature, and child development. We discussed the different stages that children learn as well as why it is important for a child to be literate. Some of the stages include: Language, Cognitive, Personality, and Social development. The notes also explained people's personalities and how they develope throughout their life. Personality traits adjust to your enviornment and those traits can remain constant or change if you have had something dramatic happen in your life.

To me a value is something you believe in and is something that has moral worth. It's the way you live your life and your values are the things you go by in your life.My most important value is my family. I guess since I come from a large family my whole world revolves around them. They have always been there for me and have supported any decisions I've made, whether right or wrong and thats why I put them first. I'm sure I've learned this at home. I don't think it was taught to me but I just picked it up like a habit. Can I teach this value? Yes to my children when I have some. I would want them to know how important family is but also teach them other values and let them decide which value is most important to them. I would teach them by showing how to get along with their brothers and sisters and also through family books or just spending time with the family. I don't teach it now but I do let everyone know how much my family is important to me and they can figure out that this is one of my values in life.

  1. Maria,
I so agree with your views on value. I myself am a mother and I know how family comes first. My children and as well my sisters are the ones who inspire me to keep on going. I enojoy spending time with them and they are whom i live for.

  2. Being someone who comes from a small semi-detatched family and not having children of my own, I'm enjoying reading blogs by people who come from or have large families. Your ideas on teaching the value of family to your future children are right on in my less than expert opinion. :)

I must concur with your views on family values and how these can care on the same values in future children.
