Modern fantasy is all make believe. It usually takes place in an imaginative world where creatures and animals can talk. What so fun about modern fantasy is that readers can take their imagination and mind inside their book and pretend that they are there. The book I chose for a fun activity is JUMANJI, also known as a movie.
Since the book is about a board game that comes to life, I thought it would be fun to have the students get into groups and makeup their own board game. The teacher would bring materials such as markers, crayons, scissors, construction paper, glue and maybe magazines so the students can cut out pictures for the game. Then students would have to come up with rules and what kind of adventure they would want to create for their game.
At the end of each week everyone will have a chance to present their games and also have a chance to play them.

I really like the idea of having the students create their own board game. I think they would really enjoy this activity.
