3321 BlogEntry #4 International Lit.

International Literature is known as different books that have been published in a different country and language and then re-published in the United States and in the english language. Multicultural literature differs from International because it mostly deals with different types of cultures, beliefs, and values. I think it is important in the classroom because we are going to have students that come from different cultures and different places around the world, so it's good to teach these types of literature to them. Here are a few activities for multicultural and international literature for the classroom.

1). International Lit./ I would bring two of the same books but have one of them in a different language ( Cinderella) and have the students compare and contrast the two. Maybe have them make a venn diagram and make sure they include the characters and settings. 2). After that I will let students be creative and have them draw their favorite character.

2). Multicultural Lit./ We would have a class discussion about different cultural families and how they live. I would ask students to bring a picture of their family and then write a short paragraph on about how special their family is. 2). I would take a map with different countries on it and a list of holidays those countries celebrate and have the students compare them to the holidays that we celebrate here in the U.S.
